CSST Grounding – Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing Grounding

If you find CSST in your Rowlett home or Rowlett business, it is strongly recommended that you determine if the CSST system has properly bondng and grounded. In order to reduce the chances of a natural gas leak or fire a bonding device should be installed. Bonding is used to prevent an electric shock to someone who would come in contact with the gas piping and other metal objects connected to the grounding system. Lightning strikes can result in an electrical surge and can possibly puncture a hole in the CSST. Proper bonding and grounding will reduce the risk of damage and fire from a lightning strike.

In the United States, the threat of lightning to a Rowlett building or Rowlett home is not a part of the mandated national model building codes. It is up to the Rowlett building owner or Rowlett homeowner to perform a lightning assessment. Therefore, most Rowlett homes and Rowlett buildings are not designed to withstand, damage from lightning. It is no wonder why the annual loss due to lightning damage is almost $800 million.

Without a proper grounding, Rowlett, Texas businesses and homeowners are vulnerable to a lightning strike. Upon inspection, you should find that the house’s electrical system has a grounded connection to provide a safe operation. If other systems are connected to the electrical system those systems should be “bonded” to the electrical ground. Bonding means to install a wire from the bonded component to the electrical system ground.

Rowlett CSST Tubing

All systems that are bonded to the electrical system will have the same electrical potential so that they will all be energized at the same rate. Consequently, if the system is struck by lightning the chances that the lightning energy will jump from one system to the other is reduced because all of those systems are at an equal electrical state.

However, if other systems in the house are not bonded they will have a different electrical potential. In the event that lightning strikes in Rowlett, Texas those systems then it is possible that the electricity may have a lower resistance to ground.

Bottom line, bonding is provided to prevent a possible electric shock to someone who would come in contact with the gas piping and other metal objects connected to the grounding system. Proper bonding and grounding will reduce the risk of damage and fire from a lightning strike.

We have used Barney's Electric for the past 19 years! His service has always been excellent. Yesterday he came out to "fix" some outlets that weren't working. When he got here he and his assistant quickly determined it was a "reset button" issue. Although he could have (and should have) charged a trip charge to us, he didn't. Said "he couldn't charge us for that". We appreciate Barney's electrical knowledge, work ethic, his fun personality... and overall just being a great guy!!

On Saturday morning, my parents house nearly caught fire after their power breaker panel exploded and they were without power for the night. Barney (the owner himself) showed up at 7am on a Sunday the next morning and completely installed an entirely new breaker panel and had their power restored by Noon. The price was fair. He showed up a Sunday in a day's notice. Easily saved my parents $3-4K that Milestone Electric wanted to charge!

Barney has come through again. He is truly an electrical wizard! I was doing some demo in my home and came across an electrical issue that was going to be a big job. He was able to take care of it and the price was fair as always.
