Outlet Maintenance

One of the primary services that we offer is outlet repairs. We use outlets to throughout our homes and offices to power our appliances, computers and entertainment devices. Malfunctioning outlets are a danger to these devices, often resulting in a shorter lifespans in the equipment. Since electrical outlets do not have many built-in safety features, malfunctions can be difficult to spot. However, when one of these outlets stops working it is essential that you contact us. Improperly working outlets are a safety hazard that could be a source of fires or electrical shocks, which could cause a death. Indicators such as sparking or burn markings on the outlet or outlet’s cover plate are clear indicators of an improperly functioning outlet. If you have a damaged outlet you need to have one of our certified electricians replace or rewire the malfunctioning unit. Your safety could depend on it.
Our electricians can also update your outlets, which are located near sources of water, to meet current safety codes. GFCI outlets utilize unique sensors that can cut off the flow of electricity as soon as a problem is detected. This includes everything from power surges to shorts that might occur from coming in contact with water. If you still have old-fashioned outlets located near water sources in your home or offices, you are risking electrical shocks on a daily basis. Once installed, maintenance on a GFCI outlet is as simple as pushing its reset button. The outlet is working properly if the reset button pops back out. If it fails to pop out, give us a call and we can schedule for one of our electricians to examine the outlet to determine if it should be replaced.

Updating Your Wiringwire-replacement

People rarely think about maintenance for the wiring throughout their homes. We know that old wiring weakens with time and can become dangerous. We advise homeowners to consider installing new wiring every 20 years. This simple precaution can improve the safety and reduce the health risks for everyone in the building. Sometimes old wiring can cause damage to the homes fuse panels or circuit breakers. In some cases the wiring is aluminum not copper. Aluminum wiring is often incompatible with modern devices that utilize copper wiring. Older aluminum wiring often expands creating situations that might result in sparking or fires. Indicators of malfunctioning wiring are lights that flicker, the odor of hot plastic, or cover plates that are warm to the touch. Our certified electricians are available to inspect your home’s wiring to determine if your home requires rewiring or only minor repairs to the electrical systems

When you are remodeling your home, even if it is only in one room, the handling of electrical wiring can often become complicated. Quite frequently remodeling requires moving the wiring or locations of switches and outlets. We are proud to offer quality service at a reasonable rate. Our certified electricians can handle all of your wiring needs during the remodel. We can help you with the following remodeling projects:

  • Kitchen
  • Basement
  • Bathroom
  • Room additions
  • Office/Den
  • Bedroom
  • Home Theater

Choosing An Electrical Service Provider

It can be difficult to determine who to hire to service your electrical needs. How do you know who to trust? While it might ‘feel right’, we strongly discourages the practice of hiring an electrician based on a ‘gut feeling’. All reputable companies, like ours, must be licensed and insured. Ask for verification of the companies licensing status. Verify that the proper insurance coverage is in place before work begins on your electrical projects. We are licensed to operate in the State of Texas and also within all the municipalities that we services.

We guarantee that you will receive a comprehensive estimate for all jobs that are contracted with us. Our certified electricians will take the time to listen to your concerns and provide thorough explanations of the work that will be required to complete your desired project. Barney has come through again. He is truly an electrical wizard! I was doing some demo in my home and came across an electrical issue that was going to be a big job. He was able to take care of it and the price was fair as always.

***First Time Customer***

We had a 200 AMP Panel burn early Saturday morning. My husband contacted Barney’s Electric; Barney quickly returned the phone call and agreed to come over the following morning.

Barney and Steve arrived at our home on Sunday at 7:00 AM. They completed the job to our satisfaction in a timely and professional manner.

Awesome job, definitely a "5 STAR" Company!

Thank you, Barney and Steve for taking care of us / our home. We will gladly recommend “Barney’s Electric” to our friends and family!
