Looking for an Electrician

Hiring an electrician can be a daunting task. It does not have to be, when the right questions are asked. Do not be in a rush, and just hire the first guy you find. The safety of you and your family could be at risk, if the work is done wrong. There are several electricians in Fate, that you can inquire about.

The majority of homeowners call an emergency electrician, after a problem is noticed. It is recommended to find an electrician, prior to an emergency. This will help ensure they are skilled, and qualified to do the work when the need arises. You can have them perform regular inspections. This helps them become familiar with you homes electrical system, and find possible problems before they become huge.

If the residential electrician you hire is not qualified, this can pose a fire risk. When hiring an electrician, remember they work on systems in your home, that affect the whole house. This makes the decision on who to hire, important. There are steps to take, to help in the decision making.

The residential electrician, should be up to date with the National Electrical Code(NEC). This gets revised every three years. While this is not a federal law, states usually adopt it. This helps in enforcing electrical practices that are safe.

Ask to see their electricians license. Some of the problems that occur from unskilled electricians, can be safety issues. Overloaded circuits, wires poorly connected, and grounding that is improper are just a few examples of what could happen. Check and make sure the license is up to date. Verify they have the correct insurance and bonding. This will include, coverage for workers compensation, and general liability.

Permits are required if a large amount of rewiring, or replacement of the main electrical equipment is done. When a permit is obtained, an inspection of the work has to be completed. This is to verify code is met with the work. Most times the permit cost is included in the bill from the electrician. Ask to make sure.

Ask if the electrician is the one doing the job. If they have employees that do the work, question if a licensed electrician will be supervising them.

Another question to ask is about their warranty. Confident electricians will offer a good warranty, for the work they did.

Hiring the right type of electrician, is of importance. There is no need to hire a commercial electrician, when only replacing switches or outlets. A residential electrician can do that job. Commercial electricians usually work construction sites.

The majority of electricians learn, from working as an apprentice for many years. The amount of years before they are able to get a license, depends on what state. Another option electricians have, is technical school. This will shorten the amount of years required as an apprentice. Whether you are looking for emergency, residential, industrial, or commercial electricians, they all had to start at the bottom. With technology growing as it is, the need for experienced electricians grow.

Two circuits from the house out to a new gate, some 149 feet, and then wired new lights, power outlets, and a photo couple at the pole. One of the circuits was to feed the gate opener and another was for lights and outlets.

After securing several bids, Barney's was the most reasonable. Of the three bids, another electrician was about 600 dollars higher than Barney, and Rockwall Electric gave me an estimate for four thousand six hundred dollars for exactly the same work. Barney's quote was less than half that!

Well, any fool alive can make the decision to go with the lower bid, but it was more than that to me. Barney is just a down to earth guy, and his sidekick completes the pair - two dedicated guys serious about what they do and doing it right.

They made arrangements for the trenching and ensured it took place the same day they laid the conduit and ran the lines, and the trench was filled in before the end of the day. Given the rains here lately, that took coordination.

And the best part? It all worked the first time. Not many of the providers perform as expected the first time around. This one did. Hire HIM, you will not be sorry.

The motor for my pool pump burnt out. I bought a new one and installed it. It hummed but wouldn't turn. I called Barney. He was out the next day. He did a through check of the electric lines leading to the pump and the timer. All were good. A further check showed that the new motor was defective.
Great service as always. We use Barney for all of our electrical needs.
